googleのクラウド・データベースの統合ツール

クラウド・コンピューティングの問題のひとつにクラウド上にちらばる様々なデータセットを統合するのが困難というのがある。googleがこのたびリリースしたFusion Tablesはクラウド上のデータを統合・コラボできるマネージメント・ツールで、同様のエンティティーであれば複数のデータをマージでき、データに関しては細かいレベルで、行列でも個別セルに関してもコラボレーターとディスカッションが可能になる。またデータをクエリして得た結果をgoogle mapsやGoogle Visualization APIを通して視覚化でき、必要であれば、視覚化したスニペットをHTMLコードで簡単にブログなどに貼り付けることも可能となっている。また自分のデータベースをFusion Tablesにアップロードするときにデータベースの特性を設定することでクレジットがつくので、他のデータベースに統合された後であってもクレジットが消えることはない。

Database systems are notorious for being hard to use. It is even more difficult to integrate data from multiple sources and collaborate on large data sets with people outside your organization. Google Fusion Tables on Labs, an experimental system for data management in the cloud is not a traditional database system focusing on complicated SQL queries and transaction processing. Instead, the focus is on fusing data management and collaboration: merging multiple data sources, discussion of the data, querying, visualization, and Web publishing.
