クラウド・コンピューティングのオープン化が暗礁に
IBMが進めていたクラウド・コンピューティングを業界共通にするオープン・クラウド計画がIMBの不透明なやり方のため暗礁に乗り上げた。すでにサインを済ませていたgoogleも計画から撤退，マイクロソフトはサインまで2日間しか時間を与えられないことや非公開の計画マニフェストに対してなにも説明がないことなどを批判している。現在まだ計画に賛同しているのはCISCO，Sun，AT&T，Red Hat，SAPやAMDなどだがgoogleやamazonのいない計画がどれだけ有効なのか疑問が残る。ただIBMはまだマイクロソフトが計画参加することに望みを残している。6ページのマニフェストは業界全体がクラウド・コンピューティングを出来る限りオープンにして相互利用ができるようにし，ユーザーがいつでもあるクラウドから別のクラウドへ簡単に移れるようにすることを謳っている。
A plan by IBM to launch an industry-wide 'open' cloud computing strategy has seemingly backfired amid accusations of closed deals. Google pulled out after signing up and Amazon said it would not get involved. Microsoft criticised the plan, saying it was given two days to sign up to a "secret" manifesto with no input. The six-page document calls for the entire computer industry to keep cloud services as open as possible and make it easy for them to interoperate and for customers to switch from one to the other with ease.
