google検索にリアルタイム・ウェブ検索を加味するWebMynd

最近twitter searchがgoogle killerになるのではないかと話題になっているが、それというのもgoogleがなかなかリアルタイム･ウェブreal-time web検索を本来のページランキング・ベースの検索と融合してくれないからだ。それで現状ではリアルタイム･ウェブを調べようとすればsearch.twitter.comであるとかFriendFeed searchを使うことになる。このgoogle検索の弱点である今ネット上で何がホットかを調べるリアルタイム・ウェブ検索を補ってくれるのがWebMynd。firefoxのアドオンであるWebMyndをインストールすると通常のgoogle検索の右側にflickrやdeliciousやdiggなどのソーシャルサイトの検索結果も示されるのでユニバーサルな検索ができるようになる。また追加したサービスごとに並べ順を自由に変えたり、隠したりすることも可能となっている。現状ではfriendfeed searchがないので真のユニバーサル検索とはいえないが、friendfeedを加えてリアルタイム・ウェブ検索ツールとして再定義すれば今後面白いツールになりそうだ。

WebMynd is Firefox add-on that embed search results from Flickr, Wikipedia, Backtype (for blog comments), Delicious, Digg, Amazon, LinkedIn and a dozen other custom locations into Google search pages. It's like building a personal Google Universal Search page but you have complete control over sources that are displayed in the search results.

There has been a lot of talk lately about how Twitter Search could become the next "Google killer," but we think that may be taking it a bit too far. Clearly, the real-time web is an important vertical to follow, but it's only a slice of the pie. The real impetus behind this ongoing debate is likely due to due our deep-seated frustration with the fact that Google has not integrated a real-time web search vertical into their offerings. Instead, we're having to turn to other search engines - like search.twitter.com or FriendFeed search - to know what's happening now.
