中国がジンバブエへインターネット監視システムを輸出

ジンバブエの恐れられているスパイ組織CIOが古いソビエト時代の機器に代えて中国からインターネットの監視システムを輸入している。ジンバブエの反政府主義者は都市部の多くのネットカフェを使い情報交換をしていてターミナル・ホッピングをすればさらにネット上の活動を監視するのが難しかった。当局はネットカフェにエージェントを張り付かせてユーザーの肩越しに覗き込んで反政府サイトや国際ニュースを見ていないかチェックしていたが，新しい監視システムによってネットのトラッキングがすばやく出来るようになった。

China is to supply Zimbabwe with new-generation spy equipment to help Robert Mugabe's regime crack down on illicit internet traffic and block dissident radio signals. According to South African website journalism.co.za, members of the feared Central Intelligence Organisation have said they are replacing "Soviet-era" equipment with hardware from China.
The internet has proved more difficult to monitor, particularly as hundreds of internet cafes are to be found in urban areas, making it almost impossible to track an individual's online activities if "terminal hopping" is used. The internet has therefore become an important resource for swapping information.
The acquisition of new internet monitoring equipment will allow the agency to track internet activity and respond quickly.
