kazaaのバージョン3.0にはスカイプskypeが含まれるが，元来法的に問題のないskypeを法的にグレーなkazaaに含めることによってskypeユーザーがSPIT（spam over Internet telephony）スパムに見舞われることに道をひらくことになる。Kazaaには中央サーバーで管理されるネットワークではないのでスパムが野放しになる。VOIPブームの興り始めたこの時期に，skypeは安全性の不安からアドミンによってファイヤーウォールの外に追い出されることになるかもしれない。

Skype users could run into problems with the new service, such as spam over Internet telephony (SPIT). Since each Kazaa user becomes part of the decentralized network, with no central monitoring server, Kazaa users encounter unregulated spam. When packaged with Kazaa, Skype could leave its users open to an influx of SPIT. Though SPIT has yet to be a major problem for VoIP providers because of the small number of such users, an instant 300 million new customers could lure spammers out of the shadows.
