アメリカがロボット兵士をイラクに投入

アメリカは陸軍とFoster-Millerが開発した爆弾処理ロボットを改造して武器を付けたロボット兵士swords(Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection Systems)をイラクに3月か4月頃に投入する。リチウム電池で動き,一回で1〜4時間持続することができる。

Turning them into the gunslinging SWORDS took just six months of work with soldiers and engineers at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, N.J.
The result is a $200,000 fighter whose tank-like tracks can overcome rock piles and barbed wire.
Thanks to its four cameras, night vision and zoom lenses, it can spot the enemy and fire automatic weapons up to 750 rounds per minute.
SWORDS runs on lithium ion batteries and can operate for 1 to 4 hours at a time.
Operators work the robot using a 30-pound control unit with two joysticks, a handful of buttons and a video screen.
