トルコがクルド語のTV放送開始
クルド問題に敏感なトルコがクルド語母語者を対象にしたクルド語TV放送をすることは考えられなかったが，EU加盟をにらんで公共放送のTRTが2つのクルド語放送を開始する。一つはクルド語（キルマンチKirmanchi方言）でもう一つでクルド語（ザザZaza方言）。衛星放送で簡単にクルド語TV放送が見れることもあり，それほど多くの視聴者は望めないが象徴的意義は大きい。
State broadcast TRT has begun broadcasts in mother tongues and dialects other than Turkish. Arabic broadcasting will start today, plus Kurdish (the Kirmanchi dialect) on Wednesday, Circassian on Thursday and Kurdish (the Zaza dialect) on Friday.
