東南アジア5カ国がオープンソースの新しいOSとOfficeスイーツを開発へ

タイのNIICT（National Institute of Information and Communication Technology）は隣国との新しいOSの開発で協力する。他の4カ国はミャンマー、カンボジア、ラオス、ベトナムで、まず最初にミャンマーのMyanmar Computer Federationと協働でオープンソースのOfficeスイーツであるLinux MLEを開発する。その後ベトナムとLinux VTE、ラオスとLinux LTE、カンボジアとLinux CTEをつくる。開発にはソースコード、各言語の入力システム、辞書と自然言語処理、検索エンジン、翻訳が含まれる。特にラオス、カンボジア、ミャンマーで文字コードと入力システムが標準化され普及されることが期待できる。

Virach said the work would include the development of source code, input systems, dictionaries and national language-processing. This includes search engines and management translation to support users.
