フリーの3ds max代替ツールtruespace

3ds maxやgoogle sketchupの代わりになるマイクロソフトのフリーツールがtruespace。以前有料だったCaligariのソフトをマイクロソフトが買収後フリーにしてリリースしたもので、autocadや3ds maxやイラストレーターなどのソフトで作られたキャラクターをインポートして使うことができる。またgoogle earthがsketchupで作られた3dモデルを取り込めるのに似て、truespaceで作られた建築物やランドスケープはマイクロソフトのVirtual Earth上で使える。習得には相当時間がかかるもののフリーという何ものにも代え難い魅力がある。

trueSpace is a 3D modeling and animation software for Windows that lets you create realistic 3D scenes from scratch, walk-throughs, games, etc. You can also import characters created in other software like AutoCAD, 3ds Max, Adobe Illustrator, etc. [...] The idea is to let users create building and landscapes for Virtual Earth just like one can use SketchUp to create 3D models for Google Earth.
