ロボット戦争10年以内に現実に
イギリス・シェフィールド大学のロボット工学専門家ノエル・シャーキー教授によれば、アメリカやロシアやイスラエルなどの関連研究に伴って、自律的に殺人を決定できるロボットが10年以内に登場すると見ている。そうなればターミネーターのようなロボット同士の戦争場面が現実のものとなる。シャーキー教授はロボットの建造コストがこのまま低下していき、既成部品がアマチュア市場にあふれるようになれば、それほど専門的な知識を要さずとも殺人マシンが作れてしまうことから、テロリストの手に落ちる危険性も指摘する。また去年の8月にはシャーキー教授は戦場における自律的ロボットに関する倫理規定を設けることを呼びかけてもいる。

At the moment, humans can make the decision whether to attack or not but a recent policy shift in the U.S means that 'intelligent' autonomous attack robots will soon be given the power to decide who and when to kill.
