google newsとyahooのヒンディー語版

google newsでヒンディー語がサポートされている他、yahoo indiaにローカル言語版ができヒンディー語など各地言語で読めるようになっている。ヒンディ語版google newsはgoogleに入社して１年目のエンジニアvinodh kumarのチームによって開発されたもので、将来は他のインド系言語もサポートされる見込み。ヒンディー語ニュースサイトなどの場合さまざまなレガシー･フォントが使われているため単純にニュースをアグリゲートするだけではだめで背後でなんらかの変換処理をしているのだろう。

Though we strongly back and urge the adoption of the Unicode-based UTF-8 standard by all Indian language websites, we didn't want to deprive our readers from reaching content on some of their favourite news sources which are not yet there. So we internally translate this information to the UTF-8 standard and do all the processing necessary to provide links to these sites.[...]
